Nestled among the fruitful hills
of the Shomron is a little town, outstanding among the Jewish settlements
in it's singular devotion to G-d and the Torah. Founded and developed on
the concept of spiritual growth and purity, Emanuel provides a calm, peaceful,
and chaste environment in a beautiful and picturesque setting. Here is
a town in which the religious Torah family can grow and prosper, both spiritually
and physically.
Originally chartered as a
city, Emanuel offers many local conveniences usually found only in much
bigger populations. Emanuel boasts its own bank and post office, and several
stores and service businesses including a fish shop, three bustling grocers,
a hardware and housewares store, stationer, and several women and children's
boutiques. Of course, we would not forget to mention our famous falafel
kiosk, to which both residents, shoppers and visitors flock for some quick
refreshments.
Emanuel is a heterogeneous
mixture of many different types of Jews. Among the Ashkenazic segment of
our populace can be found several groups of Chassidim, including Chabad,
Breslov, Gur, Slonim Chust and others, plus many Yeshivish and modern orthodox
families. The various communities are a mingling of native born Israelis,
plus 'olim' from the United States, South Africa, Russia, and England.
In equal proportion to the Ashkenazim are a blend of many distinguished
Sephardic families, originating from such countries as Yemen, Morocco,
France, Iraq, Iran, and Egypt.
Naturally, to accommodate
the varied customs of our citizens, each community enjoys one or more synagogues
geared to its specific needs and traditions. In addition, there is found
in both the Askenazi and Sephardic sectors eclectic synagogues (shteebles)
for those who don't see themselves as part of a specific community. All
in all, the atmosphere in Emanuel is one of joy, faith, and contentment.
We can say that the feeling in the air is a reflection of our name: Emanuel
G-d is with us!
Emanuel, founded in 1983, is a beautiful
city set in the midst of magestic mountains and nature preserves.
Living in the Shomron is a mitzvah which redeems the past and helps to
secure the future for the entire House of Israel.
We love our homes and want Emanuel to be
a place pervaded with the spirit of Judaism a place where our children
will also make their homes. We are will to exert every effort to
make it happen.
