Har Bracha was established in 1983 by a small group of dedicated idealists. Today the settlement consists of 60 young families, most with kindergarten and grade school children. Har Bracha has its own nursery school and kindergarten; as well as an afternoon Talmud Torah for supplementary religious education, a library and a study hall. Grade school children attend the elementary school in nearby Elon Moreh and there is a Yeshivah High School in Karnei Shomron.

The residents of Har Bracha are committed to maintaining a religious lifestyle centered around the Yeshiavat Hesder of Har Bracha and the shule. A new shule is presently under construction and is expected to be completed soon.

The real jewel in the crown of Har Bracha, and the pride of its residents, is the Ha'idra Yeshivah. This Yeshivah Gedolah is a Yeshivat Hesder where yeshivah students combine advanced Torah study with their military service in the Israel Defense Forces.

The Yeshivah is a branch of the world-renown Ha'idra Hesder Yeshivah in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem which was founded by former Chief Rabbi and Brigadier General Shlomo Goren z"l. The Ha'idra Yeshivah in Har Bracha was established in 1992 by Rabbi Eliezer Melamud and now has over 120 soldier-students. A new Yeshivah building is presently under construction and is expected to be completed soon.

Prospective applicants for Har Bracha must be religious and economically sound young couples or families of all ages who are socially compatible. All applicants must be interviewed and accepted by the Har Bracha New Residents Committee.

The homes of Har Bracha are marketed by Amana - Gush Emunim Settlement Movement and the Har Bracha settlement. Amana is the settlement arm of Gush Emmunim and is responsible for developing and expanding over 100 settlements in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Region.

Families purchasing homes in Har Bracha are entitled to special mortgages and loans totalling up to $56,000. Of these mortgages and loans, approximately $21,000 are automatically converted into a grant (forgiven) if the family continues to reside in Har Bracha for 15 years.
